Finally, needed changes are being made!
In the early 90’s the institutions for the mentally ill were closed and group homes opened up to give people proper homes to live in like other residents in communities. But then it appears more focus was centered on placing seniors into institutions. Sad. I’ve worked in both nursing/retirement homes and group homes. The work in nursing homes was not good with all l saw pertaining to seniors and their lack of care. The group homes were person centered support and a much better approach to helping people keep their dignity and continued place in society. I pray this effort to let our aged parents continue to live in homes in our communities like everyone else will be successful. And get rid of those institutions that they are being sent to. Like was successfully done with the mental institutions back in the 90’s. Thankyou to each one of you who is tirelessly working on this effort.
